Romantic poet John Keats wrote of the ability to suspend judgment about something in order to learn more about it, implying the ability to resist explaining away what we do not understand. He called this negative capability. Recently, our September exhibiting artist, Marini Angelica, has been creating ceramics work laced with open spaces. She is not sure why, but she has chosen to trust the impulse, to go with it. The work in this show, full of the hallmarks of Angelica’s work – intriguing surfaces, unexceed shapes, graceful line,s and surprising color – carried us, with her, into these inviting spaces of not knowing.
