Interactive Art Exhibition – Myriorama: Yesterday and Today

September 19 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Minnesota JCC to Host Artist Talk and Reception with Minnesota Artist Owen Brown on September 19th to celebrate the Interactive Art Exhibition, Myriorama: Yesterday and Today.

The Minnesota JCC (JCC) is excited to host an Artist Talk and Reception with Minnesota artist Owen Brown on September 19, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm to celebrate his interactive art exhibition, Myriorama: Yesterday and Today. This unique exhibition at the Tychman Shapiro Gallery at the JCC Sabes Center Minneapolis started on August 8 and runs through September 22, invites visitors to engage with Brown’s dynamic works, offering an ever-evolving artistic experience. The Artist Talk will include a moderated conversation with Margot Rosenstein, Veronique Wantz Gallery director.
Inspired by the nineteenth-century Myriorama concept—sets of printed landscape cards designed to be rearranged into new scenes—Brown’s exhibit features a collection of abstract paintings that can be arranged and re-arranged in countless ways. Of the 451 pieces in Brown’s Myriorama series, a majority will be on display in this large-scale, hands-on exhibit. Visitors will have the opportunity to rearrange 12” x 12” abstract works, creating a fresh and personal visual experience with each gallery visit.

Why did I do this?  What makes up a painting, and when is a painting finished?  Why paint in the first place, or do anything?  Margot Rosenstein, of Veronique Wantz, will be asking me, and I’ll be answering.  In turn, I’ll be asking you to confront these issues.  They are important to me, and I hope to you.  So if you’re listening, I’m talking, and you might get to talk, in turn.
