Currently, Muslims account for about 22% of the world’s population. The community will be fasting from sunup to sundown. Ramadan, the holiest month of the Muslim calendar.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and will fall during the month of April in 2022. The Islamic calendar does not align exactly with the Gregorian calendar, Ramadan falls at a different time of year, every year. When thinking about April many people also think about nature and earth month. Many Muslim scholars highlight how the Qur’an illustrates an eco-consciousness that infuses every aspect of life and explains nature as a complete, complex, interconnected and interdependent system. Many Indigenous cultures and religions all over the world center nature as an interconnected part of life and existence.
