Artist Statement: My community, North Minneapolis, where I have lived and worked for fifty years, is often portrayed in the media and in the attitudes of people who do not live here as without assets, dangerous, impoverished or unworthy of careful listening.  This project, in which I interview local residents and ask what they want for their community sets out to show our hopes and desires are just like anyone else’s.  Perhaps this series of broadsides will bring about a slight shift in those attitudes from theoutside.
